West Virginia Greenbrier Casino Going Underground
One of the main concerns that accompanies any new casino is the amount of commotion that is created in the surrounding area. In West Virginia, the owner of the new Greenbrier casino has found a way to keep the neighbors happy.
Jim Justice is the owner of the new casino resort that will be built. He has gone on record as saying that he will build the casino portion of the resort underground. That will help keep down the noise for residents that live near the casino.
"This is a wonderful idea, more casino owners should consider doing this," said observer David Grant, "the fact that Justice has taken the community into account even though it will cost him more money is commendable."
The price difference for the casino being built underground is roughly $25 million. The casino will be located near the front entrance to the hotel, and will have a pool above the casino. The casino was approved in the last election.
Justice took ownership of the casino resort last month. He is hoping to have the casino open by the spring of 2010, with construction beginning sometime this September. The size of the casino will be 50,000 square foot.
"The people of West Virginia have spoken and it is clear that they want the casino," said Grant, "hopefully the building process will not take long, and we can all enjoy the casino in the near future."
