Wild Horse Pass Hotel And Casino Opens In Arizona
The Wild Horse Pass Hotel and Casino is a project that had been i the works for over four years. Finally on Friday night, the Gila River Indian Community will get their first look at the new facility.
The casino resort is opening to the public tonight, and anticipation is all around. The project has cost over $215 million to complete, but the owners believe their investment was well worth the wait.
"We built this facility to meet our business needs, we're in a long term plan here, we're talking twenty years, we're going to be in the community from now on," said Wild Horse Pass Hotel and Casino Chief Executive Officer Harold Baugus, "The economy has affected us somewhat and will continue to affect us, but nothing drastic to our business model."
That economy has played a big part in the destruction of many casinos in Arizona and Nevada. The Las Vegas casino industry has been severely hurt by the economy, and the casinos in Sin City are still striving to regain their footing.
Baugus is extremely excited, however, of the prospects of what the Wild Horse Pass will bring to Arizona. He claims that the shopping and restaurants offered will be second to none in the state.
"We have more than 1,000 slots, five lounges, we have a 240-room hotel with thirty-nine suites and a state of the art 1,500 seat entertainment concert venue that we spent about $1 million on the lighting and sound equipment alone," said Baugus.
