With Economy Hurting, Atlantic City Casino Brings Back $2 Blackjack

When revenue goes bad at casinos in the US, there are many promotions that can be used to try and lure gamblers back to the tables. At Resorts Atlantic City, the latest attempt is a throwback from decades ago.

Resorts has decided to bring back $2 blackjack tables. With high rollers being few and far between during the economic recession, the Atlantic City casino is hoping that the everyday gamblers can help improve revenue.

There is a catch to the $2 tables. Players will have to pay $.25 a hand to the casino. That fee will go towards offsetting the operating costs of running such a small stakes table. The casino is attempting to attract novice players with the low table limit.

This is not the first time Atlantic City casinos have offered a $2 table. In fact, the tables were commonplace before casinos became greedy and took away the games. Now that they are starving for customers, the casinos have started to rethink their high limit tables.

There has also been an increase in penny slot machines over the past couple of years. While high rollers still have the option to play at stakes of upwards of $100 a spin, the gamblers on a budget can find many penny slots at most US casinos.

The Atlantic City casino industry has been among the hardest hit by the economic recession. AC and Las Vegas had been considered to be the gambling capitals of the US, but competition has increased for both gambling locations.

Pennsylvania moved a step closer on Wednesday to toppling Atlantic City's hold on casino gambling. State lawmakers passed legislation legalizing table games at Pennsylvania casinos.
