Woman, 90, Wins Slot Gambling Jackpot In Prince Albert
Many people have gone through their entire lives popuring money into casino slot machines and never have won anything. That was the fate that ninety yearl old Florence Carey was set to face until this past week.
Carey hit a jackpot at the Northern Lights Casino in Prince Albert that was worth $459,400. The jackpot came after thousands of dollars of gambling losses throughout her lifetime in casinos in Canada and the US. She was shocked when the bells started ringing.
"It was exciting, but I still can't believe it," said Carey, "...the bells were ringing and ringing...That tired me out alot. I didn't sleep at all that night, and I had to keep taking nitro because my heart is very weak."
Carey did not always have the luck that was by her side when she won the jackpot. In her life, she has suffered two strokes, a heart attack, had cancer, and has diabetes. The jackpot serves as a way for her to continue to keep her gambling lifestyle.
"I'm going to keep $100,000 because I want to come back to the casino," said Carey. The rest of the money will be divided up between her ten children. Carey's church, St. Joseph's, will also receive a portion of the winning money.
Carey used to travel to the US to do her casino gambling, but she has been unable to do so as of late because of her health. She now is confined to just gambling in Prince Albert, although after her jackpot win, that may not seem so bad anymore.
