Wynn Prepares For Encore Casino By Demanding Sign Be Removed

Steve Wynn has been around Las Vegas long enough that when he wants something done, he usually gets what he wants. That was the case this past week when he had a sign removed from across the street from his new venture.

Wynn is opening Encore, a casino hotel, across the street from where a new hotel modeled after the Plaza in New York will be built. The hotel is not yet under construction by property owner ELAD Property Group.

That hotel is not expected to be open until 2012, and Wynn wanted the sign on the property removed. He requested and received permission to remove the sign, which his Wynn Resorts Ltd. team members did.

The expansion in Las Vegas is rare these days. Many casinos are simply trying to survive in these economic times. The state of Nevada has even discussed changing the legal gambling age from twenty one to eighteen.

Encore is going to be attached to the Wynn, and while others such as Las Vegas Sands Corp. struggle, Wynn is moving forward with his plans for the future. Wynn is still the most stable of all of the casino companies.
