Wynn Resorts is in the process of expanding their gambling empire throughout the world. Originally, the company thought that New York would be part of those plans, but on Wednesday the company pulled their bid for a casino at Aqueduct.

Governor David Patterson has been pushing to finalize a deal with a casino developer that would help Aqueduct racetrack. The track has been struggling, and the state has authorized a 4,500 slot facility to revive business at Aqueduct.

Wynn was among six developers that have submitted bids to build the casino at the track. On Wednesday, the company confirmed that they are going in another direction, and wished New York and Aqueduct good luck.

"We are confident that the state of New York will find a qualified operator to meet its needs at Aqueduct," said Wynn Resorts, in a statement, "We would like to thank our associates and community leaders for all their assistance in crafting our proposal."

Without Wynn, there will now be five proposals that will be reviewed. The five developers have been notified to submit their final proposals. They were also informed that they should be prepared to ante up the $200 million licensing fee within thirty days of signing an agreement.

With the economy hurting many gaming companies, the state wants to ensure that the companies bidding on the Aqueduct casino have the funds available to complete the project once it is started. They have asked the developers for proof that this will be the case.
