Anti-Gang Immigration Measure Stalling Defense Authorization Bill

Although the gambling world has its eye on the Defense Authorization Bill because of language attached to it which may ban online gambling, US House representatives are really fighting over a federal court security measure and the more controversial Republican based anti-gang immigration measure that are both attached to the bill.

House Speaker Dennis Hastert vowed to not send this bill for a vote until unanimous decisions were met on all pork in the bill. The two previously mentioned measures, especially the anti-gang immigration measure, are bringing enough debate that the bill seems to be headed for a stall until after elections in November. The bill now looks likely to not be discussed again until lame duck sessions later in the year.
