Man Arrested for Stealing TouchPlay Video Lottery Machines
Black Hawk County deputies on Thursday arrested a man already in jail for breaking into a number of TouchPlay video lottery machines earlier this year. Deputies say he took more than $1,000 in cash and parts from at least six of the machines between Feb. 1 and April 30.
The incident was a few days before state law changed, banning the gambling devices. The investigation is continuing, and there is the possibility other people were involved in the crime, according to the sheriff's department. Authorities allege Dawson went to convenience stores with TouchPlay in Black Hawk County and secretly forced open the machines during business hours.
He took money, locks and bill collection devices, records state. Some of the crimes were caught on surveillance videos and show Dawson committing the thefts, records state.
