Bipartisan US Online Gambling Bill Expected In April

USA Players Accepted at Rome Casino!

Representative Barney Frank has been down this road before. Last year, Frank successfully passed an online gambling bill out of his House Financial Services Committee, but the legislation fell apart towards the end of the year when there was much political unrest.

Now, it appears Frank has found an ally on the Republican side of the aisle. Representative John Campbell and Frank will co-author a bill that would regulate online gambling in the country. Senator Harry Reid is said to be behind the bill, and with powerful lawmakers pushing the legislation, this may be the best chance for an Internet gaming bill yet.

Frank and Campbell are taking an alternative angle to try and pass an online gambling bill. Instead of touting the billions of dollars in tax revenue that online casinos would bring, the lawmakers are pushing the bill as a law enforcement piece of legislation. The bill would be aimed at cleaning up a dirty industry being controlled by foreign companies.

In addition to offering millions of online players protection for their money, the bill would still bring millions into state budgets in tax revenue. On a federal level, the government would also receive a portion of the tax revenue generated from the online poker rooms and casinos.

Conservative Republicans, long against online gambling legislation, are signing off on the new Internet gambling bill. If the bill is eventually approved, the US would become one of the many countries that has changed their stance on online gaming in recent years. All throughout Europe, laws are being created to open up the online casino industry.

New Jersey had a chance to become the first state to regulate online gambling when lawmakers passed a bill that was vetoed by Governor Chris Christie this past week. Christie is in favor of online gambling regulation, but believes the bill presented did not address some significant issues regarding the industry as it relates to regulation.
