Casino Gambling Ban in Gettysburg Opposed

Voted Top Online Casino Several Years in a Row!

A proposal to ban a gambling casino near Gettysburg was in jeopardy Saturday in the Senate as negotiators sought a deal on a bill making several changes to the 2004 slots gambling law. By killing the ban in the Legislature, lawmakers would be putting the decision on the proposed Crossroads Gaming Resort and Spa back in the hands of the state Gaming Control Board.

The board hopes to begin awarding casino slots licenses in December, and the Crossroads plan is one of six competing for two licenses for stand-alone casinos outside of Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. In the Senate, the ban is raising questions about whether it opens the state to a lawsuit and usurps power that was meant for the gaming board.

The ban was attached to the slots bill in the House in March by Rep. Stephen Maitland, R-Gettysburg.
