Casino Gambling And Prostitution, Brazil Says No In Raid
Anyone who has ever been to Las Vegas understands that prostitution is part of the culture in the city. Women of the night and casino gambling go hand in hand in Sin City. That does not mean that other countries are happy about sending their women to the US for prostitution purposes.
In Brazil, authorities have uncovered a major prostitution ring in which 200 women in the past year were being sent to the US and other countries as prostitutes. On Friday, one American and nine Brazilians were arrested in the sting.
The Internet was the primary recruitment tool used for the women. They would be found on the Internet, and then sent to different countries throughout the world. It was a ring that Brazilian authorities claim was large and extremely profitable.
"Anytime big money like what is found in Las Vegas is involved, women will come from all over the world to get a piece," said observer William Bell, "it is likely that this ring was being run in several countries, and not just Brazil.
The Dominica Republic and France were two other countries that were mentioned where the girls from a Brazilian brothel were being sent. While they were traveling to the US, officials in that country were not quick to allow the illegal actions.
The US Immigrations and Customs Enforcement agency was involved in helping expose the prostitution ring. Las Vegas and prostitution have been connected for as long as the city has been the gambling capital of the world. High rollers have become accustomed to having their choice of thousands of prostitutes when visiting Las Vegas.
