Casino Opponents In Ohio Using Diversion Tactics To Stop Amendment

When groups get themselves in a situation of opposing something, the overall win usually comes before the good of a state. That is what is developing in the state of Ohio. opponents of a new casino in Clinton County are trying every trick they can find to coerce voters into not approving the casino.

The Vote No on Issue 6 Committee today appealed to the smartness of voters in trying to have the casino denied. They claim that the promoters of Issue 6 have gone back on their word of admitting there were loopholes in the amendment that would stop the state from getting their share of the casino's profits.

This is a strong tactic by the group, however, it is being used to trick voters. The truth is that the state is going to receive their share of the casino's revenue. Neither the casino nor the state have any plans otherwise.

"You can't admit you messed up the wording of your own amendment, then turn around and claim that there is 'no loophole' in the proposal. The voters of Ohio are much smarter than these people give them credit for. They'll see through this in a heartbeat," said Committee Spokesman Bob Tenenbaum.

Actually, what the smart voters will deduct from these latest statements is that anti-gambling groups will go to any lengths to be right. They do not care whether the casino is good for the area or not, they simply want to win, so they bring up small issues to magnify their stance.

Tenenbaum and his allies that are against the casino are not concerned whether the state receives money from the casino. They simply do not want the casino built. Even if there was an absolute guarantee the state would receive their share of the revenue collected, these groups would still be against the casino.

The group is using the wording issue to drive home their point that they do not want the casino. That is the bottom line. Appealing to voter intelligence is the worst tactic that Tenenbaum could employ. If the voters are going to vote with their intelligent minds instead of emotion, the casino amendment would pass with flying colors.

Instead, the vote will most likely be close, and it is there opposition groups that will make that vote close by driving fear into the minds of voters to keep clear thinking out.
