Casino Table Games Bill Approved By Delaware House

The casino gambling industry is one of the fastest growing industries in the US, and with each passing day it appears to be growing more. On Thursday, the Delaware House approved a Bill that would legalize table games at casinos in the state.

Delaware has been in the news in the past year for another form of gambling expansion, sports betting. After legalizing sports betting, state lawmakers have moved forward on bringing table games to casinos in Delaware.

In addition to the blackjack, poker, and craps, the Bill also would call for the creation of a state lottery commission to oversee the gambling at the casinos. Delaware has been among the fastest growing gaming states in the country.

"Once they started the sports betting service, lawmakers understood how much revenue that can be generated through gambling," said Gaming Analyst Steve Schwartz, "If this table games Bill passes, it still could be just the beginning of gambling expansion in the state."

The House approved the Bill by a 27-5 vote. There was not much discussion about the Bill before the vote, and now lawmakers in the House are hoping the legislation passes the Senate.

Governor Jack Markell has been the most aggressive governor in state history when it comes to gambling expansion. Markell proposed the table games law in order to raise revenue for the state. It is estimated that over $40 million will be generated in the first year that the table games are up and running.
