Charlotte Police Hit The Jackpot With $40,000 Gambling Bust
Recently there have been some inquiries into what police departments do when they seize money from illegal gambling raids that they have conducted. In many cases, the money ends up getting turned over to the police department for good.
If that is truly the case then Charlotte police may have had a big score on Friday. They raided an illegal gambling operation that was taking place in an abandoned warehouse and seized $40,000 in the process.
Three people were arrested in the bust and authorities are claiming there will be more arrests on the way. It was not only gambling that was taking place, authorities also found drugs, moonshine, and guns at the location.
Charlotte police have been busy at work trying to rid the city of the illegal gambling that is taking place. Officer Steve Selogy has expressed the importance of keeping gambling out of the areas where there are already a high amount of crime.
North Carolina is not the only state where illegal gambling busts are happening. Friday morning in Texas an establishment was raided that was offering gambling through the use of computers. The computers were allowing customers to play illegal eight-line slot machine games.
The $40,000 that was seized in Charlotte is high even for operations that involve illegal gambling. It will eventually be up to a judge to determine what will happen next to the money.
