Clothing Store Fronts Illegal Gambling Operation In Naples
Most of the time when illegal gambling operations are found by police, they are taking place in bars or convenience stores. That makes the bust by authorities in Collier County on Friday a bit unique.
The Brooklyn Consignment Boutique was raided by authorities in Naples, Florida after police found that the clothing store was a front for an illegal gambling operation. Arrests were made in the case involving lottery tickets.
"These cases with lottery tickets are rare. Most of the busts that police make have to do with gambling machines or sports betting. Every once in a while a lottery operation pops up, and that's what they have here," said attorney Franklin Cymone.
During the sting operation police had found hundreds of lottery tickets that were given to customers participating in the illegal operation. The receipts equalled over four thousand dollars.
One of the men arrested had possession of some of the illegal lottery tickets. Selondieu Lubin was charged with maintaining an illegal gambling house.
Twenty year old Alaberto Jimenez was also charged in the case. He was charged with acting as an agent of the gambling house. The gambling room was in the back room of the clothing store, according to police.
