Colorado Towns Moving Quickly To Expand Gambling Options
In the past election, many state expanded their gambling options. One of those states was Colorado, where voters approved Amendment 50, that gives voters in three towns the right to choose whether to expand their gambling options.
Cripple Creek, Central City, and Black Hawk have all moved quickly in setting up elections to try and expand their casino gambling options. Voters will decide whether to expand casino hours to twenty four hours, raise betting limits, and add games.
Only one of the three towns, Cripple Creek, has an election scheduled before the new year. Voters will go to the polls on December 16th, and the outcome in Cripple Creek could determine what gets approved in the other towns.
Black Hawk will send voters to the polls shortly after the new year on January 13th. Voters will be asked whether to raise casino betting limits from $5 to $100. Central Park has not yet scheduled their election but it is expected to be held in February or March.
Betting limits have become a major issue around the country. With competition growing among states who have approved casino gambling, the limits are now a determining factor for gamblers who have choices on which casinos to go to.
"Issues such as betting limits and hours of operation have now become central topics for casinos. People are enjoying the idea of having numerous casinos to choose from, and whichever offers the most is where gamblers will be," said Troy Silomon, a casino gaming analyst.
