Crackdown on Internet Gambling Advances in Congress

Voted Top Online Casino Several Years in a Row!

It's an online industry that generates some 12 (b) billion dollars. And it's the target of legislation moving through the House. A House panel today approved legislation that will apply federal prohibitions to games like online poker, blackjack and roulette.

The bill is sponsored by Virginia Republican Bob Goodlatte. It would update the 1961 Federal Wire Wager Act to apply to online gambling. It also would outlaw electronic transmission of funds to pay for gambling bets and give law enforcement agencies authority to block such money transfers.

Internet gambling is mostly illegal in the U-S. But Goodlatte says his measure is aimed at regulating the more than two-thousand "fly-by-night" gambling sites that are based overseas.
