There is a continuing trend in the US in an attempt to crack down on illegal gambling operations. The latest raid came courtesy of a cyber cafe in Murray, Utah.

Five people were arrested in a bust at the Fortune Cyber Cafe in Murray this past week. The five that were arrested had exhibited criminal behavior in the past, and they were charged with felony counts of money laundering.

Police had been watching the establishment for several months during their investigation. To play at the cafe, patrons purchased time on a card. They then took the cards inserted them into the computers, where they were able to gamble on various games.

"This raid was similar to many that have been taking place across the country," said Gaming Analyst Brad Dawkins, "The police agencies watch the operation for several months, and when they have enough evidence, they move in and raid the illegal gambling operations."

Games of chance are illegal in Utah. Forty-five patrons were cited by police at the raid, most of which were gambling related charges. An undercover agent infiltrated the operation and was paid on several occasions.

Across the US, there has been massive legal gambling expansion. With all the expansion, police agencies have been cracking down on the illegal operations and forcing gamblers back towards the legalized casinos.
