Delaware Not Planning On Stopping With Sports Gambling
Delaware lawmakers may not have started out with the intention of full scale gambling expansion, but lately it looks as though that is where it will end up. The state has already legalized sports betting, and now may be looking towards toppling Atlantic City.
In addition to the law that allows sports gambling, Delaware has also majorly expanded their casino gambling options. They have taken steps to allow table games, but still, they have their sights set higher.
"I firmly believe there is a part of the market that is not being tapped," said House majority Leader Peter C. Schwartzkopf. He is only one of the politicians that believes that expanded casinos is necessary in Delaware.
"The fair thing would be to have something in Sussex and something for Wilmington," said Senator George H. Bunting, as reported by Delaware online, "We've given these three entities the largest subsidy in the state's history. And their doing very well."
The three areas he was referring to were the state's three horse tracks. The Senator believes that casinos need to be built, this way the state does not only have to rely on the horse tracks.
This is how the gambling movement starts. In Florida, a similar path has been taken. The Sunshine State started with Indian casinos with just slots and poker. They now have the Indian casinos with blackjack, and their pari-mutuels all have slots and poker.
Delaware has made no secret of their desire to help their budget deficit as much as possible with gambling money. The next step in that process might be the inclusion of more casinos.
