Pa. Delay May Stall Casino Growth in Near Future
Pennsylvania might never have casino gambling unless the state Gaming Control Board agrees in 15 days how to license slot machine suppliers for the state, board Chairman Tad Decker said Thursday.
"I'm not sure we're even going to have gaming," Decker told reporters after the board's meeting in Harrisburg. "I want to be honest with you.
"He later said he believes casinos will be established, but their opening would be "substantially delayed", by a year or more, if regulations aren't in place by a June 30 deadline set in the law. The board also needs to create rules ranging from where to allow automatic teller machines to treatment for compulsive gamblers.
