FBI Arrests Man On Gambling Charges In Massachusetts
Peter J. Limone might have though that he got the better of the FBI last year when he and four other men were awarded $101.7 million by a Federal judge. The judge ruled that Limone and the others were framed by the FBI for murder in 1965.
Limone found out this week that he maybe should have kept himself clean after such an impressive win. The FBI once again arrested him, this time on charges related to an organized gambling operation.
The FBI, usually quiet regarding their arrest, were more than willing to share the details of Limone's arrest. "We are alleging Peter Limone led an extensive and organized crime ring. We are alleging he was the COO," said the prosecutor in the case.
Limone had previously spent thirty three years in prison. Then, in 2001, the convictions that landed him in prison were thrown out. The new charges involve a gambling and loan sharking operation.
"Because he's Peter Limone, he's an easy target. This was completely unnecessary, and it's just another example of subjecting this man, who has already been through a tremendous ordeal, to a completely unnecessary ordeal,' said Limone's lawyer, Juliane Balliro.
The prosecution alleges that the gambling operation was one that was run tightly, but that took in hundreds of thousands of dollars. Twenty other people were also indicted in the case.
