Fifth Time A Charm For Casino Gambling Proponents In Ohio?
Residents of the state of Ohio have had their chance to legalize casino gambling four times in the past. Casino gambling proponents are hoping that the fifth time is a charm next week when Issue 3 will be voted on in the state.
This time around, the casino gambling issue has taken over local debates. There are those who have long been against casino gambling, those in favor of the casino expansion, and those who have jumped ship and are now in support of casinos in Ohio.
The latter group has decided that the current plan, which is to bring four casinos to different areas of the state, is a strong one. They have been swayed for the need to add employment opportunities in the state.
There is also the issue of the economic recession. people have switched to become pro-casino gambling in the hopes that the millions generated from the casinos will bridge the gap from what is being lost because of the economy. Issue 3 has consumed residents of Ohio for months, and the time is drawing near to once again make a decision.
Four times before casino plans have been offered to voters, and four times before the plans have been denied. Proponents of Issue 3, however, believe this will be the time that casino gambling finally becomes a reality in the state.
The plan is for Cleveland, Cincinnati, Toledo, and Columbus to all receive casinos should Issue 3 be approved. The casinos would create thousands of jobs, and it even has the backing of some of the highest ranking public safety organizations in Ohio.
