Representative Barney Frank knew that this time around he was going to receive a lot more support in his effort to overturn the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act. He just did not know he was going to get this much support so quickly.

Five more co-sponsors have signed on to Frank's online gambling Bill, HR 2267. The Bill would essentially overturn the UIGEA, and set the foundation for legalization and regulation of Internet gambling in the US.

Of the five representatives that have been added, two are from New Jersey, and one each are from New York, Connecticut, and Idaho. Representative Frank is gaining support not only among his fellow Democrats, but also on the other side of the aisle from Republicans.

Rep. Joe Courtney was added to the Bill from Connecticut. In Connecticut, there is a push from casinos in the state to overtake New Jersey as the casino gambling capital of the East Coast. From New Jersey, Rep. Frank A. LoBiondo and Rep. John H. Hadler are now co-sponsors.

The state of New York already has their share of lawmakers backing the online gambling Bill. Representative Paul D. Tonko has added his name to that list. Rep. Walter Minnick from Idaho has also been added.

Frank is showing that he can receive support from all different parts of the country. The recent seizures of bank accounts by the US government has opened many people's eyes in the US. The bank accounts were being used to pay out winning online poker players, and once they started not receiving their money, they responded harshly.

Many of these online poker players have contacted their state representatives and shown their distaste for the laws. The representatives are answering the call for action by latching on to Frank's Bill.
