Frank, Paul Online Gambling Bill Gets 2 More Co-Sponsors
Reps. Barney Frank and Ron Paul have introduced legislation H.R. 5767 which reads:
The Secretary of the Treasury and the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, whether acting jointly or separately, may not propose, prescribe, or implement any regulation under subchapter IV of chapter 53 of title 31, United States Code, or otherwise give effect to such subchapter or any such regulation, including the proposed regulations published in the Federal Register on October 4, 2007.
On June 19, 2008 two additional congressmen signed on to co-sponsor this important bill, Joining 18 others in what is seen as a little bit of justice to a flawed law (UIGEA) that was enacted in 2006.
Congressman Neil Abercrombie [HI-1], a senior Member of the U.S. House of Representatives is Chairman of the House Armed Services Subcommittee on Air and Land Forces. Congressman Abercrombie also serves as a member of the Seapower and Expeditionary Forces Subcommittee, overseeing the Department of the Navy, including the United States Marine Corps. He is also a member of the House Natural Resources Committee and its Fisheries, Wildlife and Oceans Subcommittee.
Congressman Stephen Lynch [MA-9] serves on the Committee on Financial Services and the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform. Lynch is a member of both the Subcommittee on National Security and Foreign Affairs and the Subcommittee on Federal Workforce, Postal Service and the District of Columbia. He is co-chair of the Task Force on Terrorism and Proliferation Financing, a bipartisan Congressional panel that monitors the status of national and international efforts to track and stop the flow of funds to terrorist groups.
The 109th Congress, in their infinite wisdom felt it necessary to legislate certain morality laws. The UIGEA was one of those laws. This law prevents Americans from spending their own money as they see fit and declares that unless it is an acceptable activity by the right-wing zealots, it must remain unlawful.
Time is running out on the 110th Congress and it is imperative that all Americans that see government as an intruding factor in their lives contact their representative in Washington and demand they get behind this bill.
