Gambling Arrests In South Carolina Include Deputy Solicitor
Gambling raids are becoming the norm across the United States. It seems as though nearly every day, somewhere in the country police are executing these gambling busts.
The latest one took place in South Carolina. Of the people arrested, which approached the forty number, were some highly respected government employees.
"The thing about it though, they were from all walks of life. we had school teachers, ex police officers, those kinds of folks were involved," said John Clark, Mayor of the Charleston County Sheriff's Office.
The gambling ring was apparently a well run organization. Several different people held specific posts within the organization. They were paid a salary to complete certain tasks.
One of the people busted in the ring was David Sorenson, Dorchester County Deputy Solicitor. He was among the many arrested in the bust that took place in Hahahan in the Tanner Hall Plantation subdivision.
The suspects were charged with unlawful gambling. Authorities claim that the set up was similar to one of which would be seen in a Las Vegas casino.
