Gambling at the Forefront of Governor's Race in Kentucky
Democrats and Republicans are getting their strategies in order for the upcoming Governors race and gambling appears to be at the head of the list on the debatable issues.
Apparently the idea being thrown around is to legalize casino gambling and to take the first $100 million in profit and wipe out one of the most despised things in Kentucky, the property tax on vehicles. The idea, which was created by Democratic Attorney General Greg Stumbo, who is not running for Governor, is bringing up heat on both sides of the fence.
To allow casino gambling the state would have to amend the states constitution and would require the blessing of three-fifths of The General assembly. Once that is concluded, the law would still have to be put on the ballot and approved by the general public.
It is said that until one of the Governor candidates jumps on board and promotes the idea, that, the gaming plan would not move forward.
Currently the Governor's race is wide open so a stance one way or the other from one of the candidates could severely influence the outcome of the race.
