Gambling Raid Nets A Slew Of Arrests In Franklin County, Georgia
It has become a common practice these days that people are trying to get away with running illegal gambling operations. It is also becoming common practice for authorities to crack down on these illegal gambling operations through raids.
Another raid took place on Friday in Franklin County, Georgia. This time it was three businesses that were raided by police in the afternoon hours on Friday.
The sheriff's office claims the businesses were, "generating revenue by illegal gambling methods which involved cash payouts." The businesses were all located in the Lavonia area.
At the Gold-N-Things on Concrete Road, Thomas Glenn Wright was arrested. Sheila Jones and William Hilliard were arrested at Game Time in Georgia Highway 77. At the Variety Store on Georgia Highway Wanda Brown and Rickey Brown were arrested.
The people that were arrested were all charged with the same crimes. A misdemeanor charge of keeping a place of gambling and felony commercial gambling charges were applied to all of the suspects.
Sheriff Steve Thomas' office sent out a press release on Saturday that claims that police seized gambling related items and also gambling devices from the establishments.
