Friedman and Bell were in town for the 77th annual state convention of the Texas League of United Latin American Citizens, promising better pay for teachers and an end to standardized testing that they both said is harming public education. Wielding his trademark cigar and wicked wit, Friedman told a large crowd that Hispanics are not looking for pandering Republicans and Democrats. They want the same things that everyone else is looking for from government.
