Hearing Set For Friday Regarding Online Gambling Website Names
The state of Kentucky has a governor that is a supporter of legalized casino gambling. Apparently the same principles that he brings to the casino gambling debate in the state are not the same ones that apply to online gambling.
The state of Kentucky has decided to waste taxpayer money by going after online gambling company domain names. They are trying to seize the names and, in effect, stop Kentuckians from gambling at the sites.
The one problem to the plan is that the United States government is on its way to clarifying the online gaming laws, and once that is complete, many of these sites will be operating free of fear of conviction from the U.S. government.
The forfeiture hearing was delayed on Thursday and has been rescheduled for 3:30 P.M. on Friday. Franklin Circuit Court Judge Thomas Wingate will be presiding over the hearing.
The main reason for the state trying to seize the domain names is greed. They have many legal wagering options in the state, but they fear they are losing money to these online sites. They want to make sure that all gambling money comes to them, and them only.
