The shelter was in the process of trying to gain back its gambling license from the state after losing it more than two years ago due to several reasons, she pointed out.
For now, though, "the gaming issue is dead," she said, with no licensed and bonded gambling, employees ready to go to work and actual license in hand. Once the new board gets things organized, she added, it may decide to still pursue gambling, as it was lucrative and kept the shelter intact at one time. However, that will take more time than the shelter has at the moment.
