When it comes to the world of organized crime, not many have done it better than Michael Sarno. The Westchester man was again at the center of indictments handed down on Thursday. This time the crimes ranged from jewelry heists to illegal gambling.

Sarno, a convicted felon for his involvement with organized crime headed by Ernest Rocco Infelice, is the alleged leader of the Outfit that was stealing jewelry and then stashing it at a store front. He is also considered the head of the gambling operation.

"Typically these type of indictments stem from groups that are involved with a little bit of everything," said observer Nick Neese, "when organized crime is involved, it is almost a certainty that gambling will also be involved."

Sarno has been linked to ordering the bombing of C & S Coin Operated Amusements back in 2003. The establishment was a competitor of a business that Sarno's group was running. Coin operated machines are a common business among organized crime members.

A former Berwyn police officer and a current Cicero police officer were also indicted on Thursday in relation to the crime ring. Dino Vitalo is an eighteen year veteran of the Cicero police force.

"He was sent home on administrative pay leave. That's where he is now. He is off the streets," said Elio Montenegro, Cicero spokesman, as reported by ABC7News, "Town president immediately indicated that if these charges prove to be true they are sickening and there is no room in the Cicero Police Department."
