Illegal Poker Gambling Operation Raided By Police In Texas

Poker has become such a big game, that people have taken upon themselves to believe they can hold casino type games at their homes. The operations usually target high stakes players, and the house usually takes a rake of all the money that hits the table each hand.

These games, although harmless in most cases, are illegal. When a group of friends gets together and plays, it is legal. Once the house starts taking a cut of what is being gambled, it becomes an illegal operation.

In Texas, a group of players learned the hard way that their home poker game was illegal. Residents in Mission had written a letter to the local news and also to police about disturbances taking place every Saturday night.

The police needed to go undercover to bust the illegal poker game because they did not have just cause for a search warrant. What they found was 40 to fifty cars outside of this particular residence. When they pulled one of the players over leaving the game for a traffic operation, he spilled the beans on where he was coming from.

The police then had their just cause, and raided the house. One person was arrested in the sting, He was the person police believe was responsible for organizing the game. Thousands of dollars and poker tables and chips were found at the scene and were confiscated.
