Talking about politicians and promises often generates guffaws of skepticism and conjures images of politicians speaking out of both sides of their mouths while scarfing down a free meal from some lobbyistBut at the Kansas Statehouse, a legislator's word - a promise not meant to be broken - is a staple, the necessary ingredient to make the political process work.
"Just keeping your word, to me, that's the most important part of this process," said Senate President Steve Morris.
