Keeping Promises Is An Important Element to the Political Process

In the whirlwind world of legislative politics, often it's the little things that make the big things happen. Little things like a legislator making a promise and keeping it, or making a promise and breaking it.

Talking about politicians and promises often generates guffaws of skepticism and conjures images of politicians speaking out of both sides of their mouths while scarfing down a free meal from some lobbyistBut at the Kansas Statehouse, a legislator's word - a promise not meant to be broken - is a staple, the necessary ingredient to make the political process work.

"Just keeping your word, to me, that's the most important part of this process," said Senate President Steve Morris.
