Kentucky Court Of Appeals Asked To Dismiss Internet Gambling Case

The state of Kentucky and Governor Steve Beshear had another thing coming if they thought that online gambling sites were just going to stand by and watch the state take their domain names. This week, lawyers representing the 141 sites asked the state Court of Appeals to dismiss the case.

Governor Beshear filed a lawsuit to try and seize the domain names of 141 online gambling sites that were doing business in the state of Kentucky. He claimed in the lawsuit that the sites were detrimental to the children of the state.

Beshear is the same politician who ran for the office of governor on a platform that was heavily in favor of casino gambling expansion in the state. His views on the gambling expansion helped get him elected.

Now he is turning his back on all of the voters who believed he was on their side. Voters who thought Beshear was a breath of fresh air in the stuffy world of politics are now finding out that his original pledge was nothing more than a political ploy.

Attorney's for the websites asked the court to keep a Franklin Circuit Court judge from making any decisions about the case on December 3rd. that is the day the next hearing is scheduled in the case.

Beshear, showing the hypocrisy of his being, called the websites, "leeches on our communities." That statement would seem to contradict the ones that come out of Beshear's mouth when speaking of expanded casino gambling, which, oh by the way, he is still pushing for in the state.

Lawyers for the website4s felt they had to file with the Court of Appeals to save the harm that could be done to all industries associated with the Internet in the future. "The reason we are going down this road is, frankly, enough is enough," said an attorney for the group, Edward Leyden.
