Kentucky May Follow Ohio Into Legalized Casino Gambling

Governor Steve Beshear is extremely protective over his state's gambling interests. That is the reason that he attempted unsuccessfully to seize 141 online gambling domain names. Now, he is being backed into a corner thanks to Ohio.
On Tuesday, voters in the state of Ohio approved a ballot initiative that will bring four new casinos to the state. Cincinnati, Cleveland, Toledo, and Columbus will all be receiving casinos, and now Kentucky wants to make the move to video gambling as well.
Senator Damon Thayer has filed legislation that would allow video gambling at state racetracks. This is a new proposal but it is something that lawmakers have been discussing for a while now. The racetracks in the state have been struggling, and the governor has been looking to expand gambling to help the ailing industry.
"For too long, casino gambling has dominated the debate in Frankfort to the detriment of all other issues. Governor Steve Beshear has advocated very little, if anything, beyond the expansion of gambling," said Thayer, in a news release, "....My amendment would let the people decide if they wish to expand gambling or not."
The slot issue is one that is being debated in almost every state government around the US. Many states have already made the move to legalize casino gambling. Other states that already allowed casinos have discussed expanding their existing options.
