Kentucky Online Gambling Hearing Delayed Until Friday
The heavily anticipated online gambling hearing in Kentucky that was supposed to be held today has been delayed until 3:30pm on Friday.
While the entire online gambling industry is on vacation at a conference being held in Barcelona, Spain, major consequences for those in the industry could come from a little state in America.
Earlier in the week over 140 online gambling domain names were ordered to be seized by the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Governor Steve Beshear, who was formerly known as a pro-gambling expansion governor, brought the case before US District Court.
Beshear claimed that the 141 sites on the list were taking millions of dollars in profit away from state coffers. He admits that he believes gambling should expand in the state, but claims online gambling to be a shady industry that preys on children, obvious hyperbole.
IMEGA, who fought for the ability to fight for the industry in New Jersey, will be at the court hearing on Friday with their 'best team of lawyers in the country'.
Steve Beshear is losing many supporters with his hypcrotical action. Many of those who contributed to his campaign are requesting refunds for his 180 degree turn.
"When you contribute to a campaign financially you are doing so because you believe in what the politician believes in and want to see him succeed," said one supporter, "than when he completely changes into a different person and supports opposite views as he once did you feel betrayed.
"I want my contribution back," the contributor said.
