Kentucky Raid Nets Forty Three Gambling Machines
The state of Kentucky has illegal gambling taking place in their bars just like most other states in the country. That was evidenced on Wednesday when authorities raided five businesses that had the illegal machines.
Nobody was arrested in the raids, but warrants are expected in the next couple of days. Police confiscated forty three gambling machines in the raid.
The locations that police entered were the Slate Branch Super Stop, the Express Mart, Louise's Food Mart, the Lakeway Shell, and Hampton's Service Station. The raid continues a nationwide attempt by authorities to rid their counties of these illegal gambling machines.
Four of the locations had a variety of machines confiscated. Twelve of the machines that were taken came from Burnside, and the rest were taken from the other locations.
There was a familiar theme throughout all of the stores where the machines were taken from. They all were located out of vision of regular customers, and were in back rooms in the stores.
"We don't believe at this time that any of the machines were owned by local businesses. We do believe that they were placed there through outside sources that own the machines. We think the profits were split between owner and business," said Pulaski County Sheriff Todd Wood.
Promoting gambling charges will most likely be filed sometime by the end of the weekend against the people that were involved in running the illegal operation.
