If at first you don't succeed, try, try again. That is the saying that must be resonating through the halls where Ohio lawmakers are discussing another casino gambling proposal. This time, the plan calls for four casinos in the state.

Cincinnati, Toledo, Cleveland, and Columbus would be the lucky recipients of the new casinos if voters were to suddenly change their mind and decide casinos could be good for the state. So far, they have turned down four proposals in the past two decades.

This time around may be different, however. Many voters who have voted against casinos in the past have now lost their jobs. The new casino proposal would supply 20,000 jobs for Ohio. That is an enticement voters may not be able to pass up.

"A deal was reached between the owners of Broadway Commons and the casino backers that will make Broadway Commons the site for a casino for Cincinnati," said Jeff Berding from the Cincinnati City Council.

The new proposal, called the "Ohio Jobs and Growth Plan" now goes into the signature phase. The proposal must receive 402,000 signatures before July, if that occurs, the proposal would be eligible to be placed on the ballot in November.

In addition to the tremendous amount of jobs created, the plan also estimates that $600 million annually will be made for the state in tax revenue. If approved, each of the eighty-eight counties in Ohio would receive a portion of the tax revenue, and public education would also benefit.
