Man Arrested For Running Scam That Cheated Casinos
A Memphis, Tennessee man thought that he was living the good life. he had orchestrated a casino scam involving dealers in which dealers would pay off bets that were laid down late. they then would get paid later for helping in the scam.
Richard S. Taylor finally had his luck run out on Thursday. Police arrested Taylor and charged him with cheating at gambling, conspiracy to commit cheating at gambling, and first-degree larceny.
Taylor was not the only one charged in the scam. Foxwoods dealer Mattie Tarlton also was originally arrested. Now, thirteen people are thought to have been a part of the scam.
$69,965 was the amount that was stolen from two casinos in the Connecticut area from the scam. The investigation has been going on since December of last year, and finally on Thursday the arrests were made.
Police have been cracking down around the country on many gambling related crimes. Most of them, however, deal with illegal gambling machines. Rarely have police got involved in trying to track down scams that are taking place in casinos.
Many of the casinos are on Tribal land and are not in the jurisdiction of local police. The casinos that are under local jurisdiction, have police officers keeping an eye on other potential threats at the casinos.
