New Slot Machine Like Game Ruled Illegal By Agency In New York
Once again the agency that rules on slot machine like games in the state of New York has changed their minds. The State Liquor Authority had ruled that a new slot like game was legal because they were games of skill.
On Friday, two out of three commissioners overturned that initial ruling for the slot like game. They now claim that the manufacturer is incorrect in calling the game one of skill.
"The two commissioners who made the ruling, Noreeen Healy and Jeanine Green, both claim they will explain their reasoning in writing. They both agreed, however, that the machine offered gambling not on a game of skill, but luck.
The third commissioner, Chairman Daniel B. Boyle, said that he did not have enough information to make a decision. Moxie Mania owners, the Pace-O-Matic Corp. have not yet responded to the ruling.
Moxie Mania was ruled a game of skill earlier this year by SLA general counsel, Thomas J. Donahue. The machines were then installed in the over 300 bars in New York. Now, the SLA has overturned their own ruling, leaving Pace-O-Matic to ponder their next move.
