New Software Could Stop Minors From Gambling On the Internet
A new software that will easily block a child's ability to access gambling sites online is being tested in Nova Scotia. The Nova Scotia Gaming Corporation claims that their 'BetStopper' software blocks 94% of online betting sites.
Right now it is estimated that there are about 2,300 places to gamble online. If the software in the computer is installed, a child accessing the computer would only be able to find 100 or so of those sites, and that would be if they tried really, really hard to find them.
Senator Bill Frist has snuck an internet gambling law through Congress in the midnite hour of the last day of the congressional session, he has lied about the facts and figures of online gambling, he has manipulated the United States judicial system, he has destroyed a $12 billion a year industry, to protect minors from gambling online.
Uh, good job Senator Frist.
Adults across the United States are in fear that they may lose one of the most enjoyable past times they have found in recent memory, online poker, because of Senator Bill Frist's desire to appease a minority Baptist group intent on sharing their family values with the world.
Amazingly, it turns out Mr. Bill could have appeased that minority crowd without all the damage. If only he did a little bit of investigating, if only he asked someone in the industry if there may be a software somewhere in the world that may be able to stop kids from gambling online, then maybe he may not have had to destroy an industry.
But Mr. Bill didn't investigate, instead he started a modern day prohibition that will allow illegitimate, unregulated, mob run online gambling organizations to proliferate.
Good job Senator Frist.
