Ohio Issue 3 Casino Gambling Debate Heads To Final Week
Issue 3 is one of the most hotly contested issues in recent memory in Ohio. It has to do with legalizing casino gambling, and for the first time in history the pro-gambling members have the upper hand.
The opposition groups in Ohio understand that they are at a disadvantage this time around. Recent polls suggest that the people of Ohio are prepared to legalize casinos. That is a drastic change from past elections, when the casino gambling question has failed.
Opponents are bringing out all of heavy artillery for the final week, the problem may be that their material is outdated. Opponents of Issue 3 are pointing towards an increase and crime and problem gambling in the state as the main reasons to vote against casinos.
They may have difficulty convincing voters of these accusations, however. Other states have been expanding their gambling options, and in many cases, the myths surrounding the dangers of casinos in an area have been disproven. That is making it tougher for casino opponents to get their point across.
Another thing working against these opposition groups is the support that Issue 3 has received from high ranking law and public safety organizations in Ohio. There is not much going in favor of the opposition groups.
This week, voters will finally have their say, but not before they are bombarded with opinions on how they should vote. In the end, it will come down to who the residents of Ohio trust, and right now that is looking like it is the pro-casino groups.
