There have been many polls done on whether or not voters in Ohio are prepared to buck the trend and vote in favor of casino gambling next month. On Sunday, the latest of those polls was released.

Eight Ohio newspapers commissioned a poll asking whether or not voters were in favor of the casino gambling measure that will be on the ballot in November. Almost sixty percent of the voters polled said they would vote in favor of casino gambling this time around.

That is a drastic change on an issue that has never been popular among voters. Several attempts have been made to bring casino gambling to Ohio and each time voters have turned the proposals away. This time, however, it appears as though voters have had a change of heart.

The poll results released Sunday came from the Institute for Policy Research at the University of Cincinnati. the poll consisted of 713 registered voters. The margin of error is 3.7%. The fifty-nine percent approval rate for casino gambling is in line with other polls that have been conducted in the past several months.

Of the respondents, only thirty-eight percent opposed the gambling initiative. Issue 3 has become the most debated issue in Ohio for the November election. Opposition groups have done their best to send an anti-gambling message, but they have been met with resistance.

Ohio is one of the states where the economy has cost many residents their jobs. The casino proposal, which would bring casinos to Toledo, Columbus, Cleveland, and Cincinnati, is now viewed as a way to stimulate the economy in the state.
