Online Casino Gambling Warrants Collecting Dust in Louisiana
As former Sporting Bet chairman Peter Dicks prepares for his extradition hearing to find out whether or not he will be moved to Louisiana to face charges of "gambling by computer", Louisiana Police Gaming Enforcement Captain Joseph Lentini says his state has at least 50 other sealed warrants for individuals associated with online casino gambling.
Louisiana is one of the only US states that has laws clearly banning internet gambling. In an official statement, Louisiana police have issued a warning for all online casino gambling companies:
"Accept wagers from people living in Louisiana and take the chance of being arrested if you ever visit the United States."
According to Captain Lentini, "We have agents all over the state working this daily. "There are other sites we're looking into."
Peter Dick's attorney say he cannot be extradited to Louisiana on charges because he has not visited Louisiana in over 20 years, therefore, how could he have committed a crime in that state. Mr. Dicks hearing is set for Thursday to determine whether or not he will be extradited to Louisiana to face these charges.
