Pricewaterhouse Finds Online Gambling Could Help US Economy

In the US, everybody in Washington is concerned about the economy. Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle are looking for ways to help struggling Americans, and PricewaterhouseCoopers may have found the answer.

The accounting firm has done a study on the amount of money that could be made if US lawmakers regulate Internet gambling. Their findings? $52 billion could be generated over the next decade.

For a government that has become accustomed to spending money instead of generating it, online gambling could be a solution that people in the US would respect. It may not gather much support from the far right, but as the recent election has shown, the rest of the US is ready for a change.

"Americans have spoken out and what they are saying is that they want the right to legally gamble online. No matter what laws are passed in the US, it will not stop Americans from spending their leisure time at online casinos,' said observer Neil Schwartz.

The study that was done by PricewaterhouseCoopers backs up what Schwartz believes. The estimate from the latest study on how much the US could raise by regulating the online gambling industry has risen by twenty two percent over an estimate from 2007.

That means that people in the US have ignored the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act and established that they are going to gamble online no matter what the government does to stop it. Representative Barney Frank is in tune with this theory.

Frank is preparing another version of a past Bill that he had proposed that would eliminate the UIGEA and regulate Internet gambling. With a new administration leading the US, and a majority of his party in power, Frank believes this time he will be successful in his efforts.
