Religion vs. Online Gambling - Which is Morally Wrong?

It was the religious conservatives pushing certain senators and congressman that caused the Internet gambling ban in America. Last year's law was passed as Internet gambling was deemed to be 'morally wrong'. One could, however, make a case that Congress should enact a law to ban religion, as it too is morally wrong - to the vast majority of thinking persons.

Like gambling, religion has an addictive personality. However, if you decide to leave an online casino nothing happens. If you decide to leave your religion you will go to hell. Scary stuff.

Religion indulges the fears of masses of people that can find no other way to cope with their lives. Lonely, talk to Jesus. Scared, pray to Ala. Troubled, tell god and you will be okay.

It enlists children at the earliest stages of life and demands that certain rules be followed or severe consequences will occur.
This is morally wrong!

Religion demands that people tithe a percentage of their fortune (usually 10%) and in some cases, upon their death, all that is remaining.
This is morally wrong!

Religion urges followers to believe that there is a better life - if only you believe. It criticizes if you do not live that life.
This is morally wrong!

Religion demands strict adherence to rules/laws and beliefs that are in some cases changed as the population of the congregation is changed.
This is morally wrong!

To some, religion is immoral due to the limitations it puts on people to experience life to its fullest.

Religion teaches that god is good, yet this same god allows for wars, murders, thefts, starvation, diseases, and on, and on, and on.
Well I say that God is morally wrong!

Now we can take a look at online gambling.

Online gambling can be addictive, but only to persons that have an addictive personality.
This is not immoral!

Online gambling is a fun way to spend an evening and provides a great level of entertainment.
This is not immoral!

Online gambling is a choice adults make about how to spend their own money.
This is not immoral!

Adults that gamble online spend more time at home and with their families.
This is not immoral!

Online gambling is a more responsible way of gambling than going to a brick and mortar casino where there is no limit on the amount you lose, where you are encouraged to continue gambling.

Congress, thinking it has the right to legislate our morality, is morally wrong. More importantly, it violates the separation of church and state provision of the United States Constitution for decisions to be made on such basis'.
