Riley Rejects Changes Made To Alabama Gambling Machines
Governor Robert Riley has made it clear that it does not matter whether the machines are legal or not, he wants all gambling out of his state of Alabama. The latest evidence of his stance came this past week.
Gambling establishment owners have quickly attempted to come into compliance with the standards that have been set recently for gambling machines by the Alabama state Supreme Court. These changes, however, were not enough for Riley.
The governor announced that more raids may be coming from his task force that was created to basically stop all gambling operations in the state. Riley has started an all out war against gambling, and not everyone in the state is supporting his efforts.
"It is ridiculous the extent that the governor has gone to in order to rid Alabama of these gambling machines," said Barry Gray, "Many of these machines are being used for good causes, to raise money for charities."
The governor does not feel the same. Riley has continuously said that these electronic machines are illegal, and he won a small battle when the Supreme Court ruled in his favor in one case. The Court, however, was quick to point out that they were not ruling against all gambling machines in Alabama, just the ones in this particular case.
