Sewer Debt Crisis In Alabama Could Be Solved Through Gambling
Gambling is a lot like the friend who goes out and parties all night every day of his life. While the friend is not socially accepted, there is always the feeling that they are one of the only people who will be there for you in times of need.
Alabama might be calling on their gambling friend in the near future. Gambling has been mentioned as a possible solution to the sewer debt crisis that is taking place in the state.
"You'll see a lot of things come up if it goes that far (to the state legislature) to try and solve this. Number one is some kind of gaming laws to be tapped, to use that for Jefferson County," said Commissioner Bobby Humphreys.
The other solution, the one that the County Commission is leaning towards, is bankruptcy. The bankruptcy option is not one that looks that it will be approved, however, with only two of the five commissioners supporting bankruptcy.
While gambling is not the ideal solution, Commissioner Jim Carns believes,"...there are a lot of folks that would love to see gambling come to this country."
Nobody wants gambling when times are good, but in a time of need, the gambling option becomes one that makes even the staunchest detractor see things in a different light.
