Symbolic Gesture In Kansas By Destroying Gambling Machines
The state of Kansas wants to make it clear that they will not sit back and watch video gambling machines operate illegally in their state. That is why the state made a symbolic gesture late this past week.
The state destroyed a couple dozen of the video gambling machines that were being used in businesses around Kansas. They were destroyed in several different fashions, but the intent of the state was clear.
"I think business owners have them (gambling machines) out of ignorance," said Stephen Martino, Executive Director of the Commission in charge of destroying the machines, "That's why we concentrate on going after the suppliers."
Many of the businesses that had the machines did not even know they were illegal. Once they realized that the machines were illegal, they turned them into the authorities. It is an ongoing battle that the state is having with the suppliers.
An earth-moving machine ran over some of the machines that were destroyed. Others were destroyed by the bucket of a front-end loader. The machines were typical of those that would be seen in an arcade. A person can drop a quarter into the machines and hope that the sweeping action causes other coins to fall into the pay slot.
