Texas Gambling Sting Involves Pakistan Connection
Texas Police in Austin, Texas, say an investigation into illegal gambling could become the biggest probe in the department's history. More than 30 people have been arrested in a gambling sting, and accused of illegally collecting more than 15 (m) million dollars in two years.
A federal indictment says some of the illegal profits were funneled to Pakistan. A police commander says the joint city and federal investigation started more than a year ago when investigators seized more than 700 slot machines. Police say players were being promised cash payouts, which violates Texas law. Authorities say the probe could go on another 18 months.
